RECENT INSIGHT
UK MACRO / POLITICS
Will Andy Burnham Fix the UK?
The debate treats "can Burnham fix Britain?" as a test of charisma and mandate. That misses what binds. He can re-sequence and re-legitimise economic policy, but he has already traded away the power to loosen it - committing to Reeves's fiscal rules and a team of fiscal adults to buy the bond market's patience. The calm in gilts since Makerfield is not confidence in his programme, it is the measure of how much he has already conceded.

The US-Iran ceasefire is being priced as a clean reversal, however, a 60-day memorandum that defers every hard question and does nothing to rebuild the OPEC buffer the UAE removed in early May.

HOW WE WORK
In a world of rapid change, independent macroeconomic and geopolitical understanding matters now more than ever.
Our analysis is independent - not shaped by consensus, not hedged for committee approval. We offer a direct view of where macro forces and geopolitical dynamics are heading, and what that means for commercial decisions, investment positioning, and strategic risk.
There are two ways to work with BlackPoint: subscribe to our published research, or commission analysis built around your own questions.
1. SUBSCRIPTIONS Published Research, on a schedule
Our subscription research gives you a continuous read on the macro and geopolitical forces moving your markets - timely notes on the data releases, policy decisions and events that matter, with the analysis and forecasts you need to stay ahead and act.
2. ADVISORY & PROJECTS Analysis built around your questions
When you need more than a published note, we work directly to your brief - on a one-off project basis, or as an ongoing retained relationship. Typical work includes bespoke country and thematic research, sector deep-dives, scenario and stress-test design, and board-level presentations on macro and geopolitical risk.

FOUNDER
WHO WE ARE
BlackPoint was founded by Grant Hixon, a Macro & Geopolitical Strategist with over 15 years' experience at the senior end of the field. Previously at Dun & Bradstreet, Lloyds Bank, Oxford Economics, the EIU, Continuum Economics, and CRU, he has led forecasting, scenario design, and sovereign risk across advanced and emerging markets.
He has advised boards and senior leadership teams at some of the world's largest financial institutions and multinationals on strategy under uncertainty. He is a regular executive-level presenter and media commentator on macro and geopolitical risk.
BlackPoint exists because the best analysis rarely survives the institutional process intact - hedged for committees, softened for consensus, stripped of the conclusion that actually matters. We work differently: independent, unfiltered, accountable only to your needs.
THE BLACKPOINT INFLATION VIEW · PUBLISHED EACH ONS CPI RELEASE
Where UK inflation goes next
A forward view of UK CPI, released the same day as each ONS print
Most forecasts stop at the headline rate. We don't. The BlackPoint Inflation View models UK inflation from the bottom up - every COICOP division, plus core, services, goods, energy and food, each forecast on its own and reconciled to the headline. Each edition sets out the path over the next three, six and twelve months, with calibrated uncertainty bands and a clear account of what's driving the number.
The monthly note is free to read. The full data, component-level forecasts and model outputs behind each edition are available to subscribers - the numbers you can build into your own pricing, risk and scenario work.

THE BLACKPOINT ALLOCATION VIEW · PUBLISHED THE 1ST OF EACH MONTH
Where to position UK sector and cross-asset risk
A forward view of UK sector and cross-asset positioning, published the first of every month
Most sector research describes what each industry does. We don't. The BlackPoint Allocation View is one decisive house view - Overweight, Neutral or Underweight across all 13 UK sectors and the full cross-asset matrix, benchmarked to the FTSE 350, with every rating and active weight derived from a transparent scorecard engine rather than asserted. Each edition reviews the month just gone and positions for the month ahead and the next twelve, organised around what changed, why, and what it means for allocation.
The monthly note is free to read. The data pack behind each edition - the full monthly time series, the scoreboard engine and the model-derived proprietary data - is available to subscribers.
