The UK's Double Shock: An Outsized Hit from the Iran War
The OECD's March 2026 interim update delivers a stark verdict: no major economy faces a sharper growth downgrade or bigger inflation revision than the UK. Gas-linked electricity pricing, pre-existing fiscal drag, and a Bank of England caught in a stagflation trap make Britain the conflict's most exposed G7 economy.

HOW WE WORK
In a world of rapid change, independent macroeconomic and geopolitical understanding matters now more than ever.
Our analysis is independent - not shaped by consensus, not hedged for committee approval. We offer a direct view of where macro forces and geopolitical dynamics are heading, and what that means for commercial decisions, investment positioning, and strategic risk.

We don't produce generic reports. We produce analysis calibrated to your needs - the questions your board is asking, the scenarios your team needs to stress-test, the signal your competitors are missing.

GLOBAL EXPERTISE
Global macro and geopolitics
The interaction between economics and politics is where most analysis breaks down. We treat it as the starting point. We provide macro and geopolitical intelligence across major economies and emerging markets - translating structural shifts in power, policy, and capital flows into strategic foresight for clients operating in complex global environments.
Financial services
Financial institutions need to anticipate regulatory and political change, not just respond to it. We advise banks, lenders, insurers, fintechs, payment providers on the political economy of regulation - helping clients build positioning that is resilient to the structural shifts already in motion, not just the headlines of today.
UK politics and policy
UK policy is increasingly shaped by forces that Westminster alone does not control. We help organisations understand how domestic political dynamics interact with international economic pressure, translating policy risk into practical strategic guidance - and bringing comparative context from engagement with policymakers beyond the UK.

LEADERSHIP
WHO WE ARE
BlackPoint was founded by Grant Hixon, a macroeconomist and geopolitical risk specialist with over 15 years' experience at the senior end of the field. Previously at Dun & Bradstreet, Oxford Economics, the EIU, Continuum Economics, and CRU, he has led forecasting, scenario design, and sovereign risk across advanced and emerging markets.
He has advised boards and senior leadership teams at some of the world's largest financial institutions and multinationals on strategy under uncertainty. He is a regular executive-level presenter and media commentator on macro and geopolitical risk.

BlackPoint exists because the best analysis rarely survives the institutional process intact - hedged for committees, softened for consensus, stripped of the conclusion that actually matters. We work differently: independent, unfiltered, accountable only to your needs.

BlackPoint tracks the macro and geopolitical forces that move markets, shape policy, and create commercial risk. Our coverage spans advanced economies and major emerging markets - with particular depth in the UK, Eurozone, and US - and is calibrated to the structural dynamics that institutional clients need to anticipate, not just react to.
The interaction between economics and politics is where most analysis breaks down. We treat it as the starting point.
