Grant founded BlackPoint Economics to provide independent macro and country risk analysis to organisations that need a clear view, not a committee position. He is a Macro & Geopolitical Strategist with twenty years of senior experience inside the institutions whose research the market reads.

Most recently, as Lead Economist and Country Risk Analyst at Dun & Bradstreet, Grant led country and sovereign risk analysis for North America and the United Kingdom and was the firm's Global Macro Economist, with regular media commentary and direct engagement with institutional clients. Earlier roles include Lead Economist at The Economist Group, where he ran the firm's global modelling and forecasting research; head of quantitative economics and shadow sovereign ratings at Continuum Economics; leading developer of the flagship Global Macroeconomic Model at Oxford Economics; and Senior Economist at CRU, editing the firm's monthly Global Macroeconomic and Industrial Outlook.

​Across these roles, Grant's analytical work has concentrated on the points where macroeconomic, political, and financial market signals interact - sovereign and country risk frameworks, macro-political scenario design, the transmission of geopolitical events into asset prices and credit conditions, and the intersection of monetary policy with capital flows.

He has built original quantitative tools in each of these areas, including sovereign vulnerability scores, a CAPE-based equity valuation framework, an equilibrium exchange rate model, and a GDP nowcasting model - and works extensively with major macroeconomic models including NIESR's NiGEM.
