BlackPoint Economics provides the economics behind programme evaluation. We work with corporates, government departments, combined authorities, public bodies and evaluation consortia, delivering analysis to Magenta Book and Green Book standards.
We work directly with commissioning bodies and as part of consortia, providing the economics alongside research and fieldwork partners.
We are available at bid stage to design and cost the economics component.
What we deliver
The economics of evaluation and appraisal
Value-for-money assessment. VfM frameworks, economy, efficiency, effectiveness and equity analysis, unit cost benchmarking, and VfM chapters written to current HM Treasury guidance.
Economic impact assessment. Gross-to-net analysis covering additionality, deadweight, leakage and displacement, with GVA and employment impact modelling.
Cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness analysis. Social CBA, benefit-cost ratios, optimism bias adjustment, sensitivity analysis and switching values.
Theory of change and logic models. Causal chain specification and indicator frameworks designed so the outcomes can actually be tested later.
Counterfactual and impact analysis. Comparison group construction, difference-in-differences, synthetic control and time-series approaches.
We are set up to subcontract - registered on the Central Digital Platform (Find a Tender), Cyber Essentials certified, ICO registered, £2m professional indemnity, and quality-assured to Aqua Book principles.
